Licence and plans
The engine asks for a licence key on first start, after the terms screen. Later is allowed, so you can look around before you activate, and every new start asks again until a key is in place.
What the Licence section shows
Settings carries a Licence section with the plan, the expiry date, the state and the machine the key is activated on. When something is wrong, the state row says what in plain words: no licence on this machine, an expired licence, or a computer clock set far behind.
Deactivate this machine frees the key so the same key can be activated on another computer. New entries stop on the machine you leave behind, and the trades that are open finish by their own exits. The engine re-checks the licence about every six hours.
After the expiry date
An expired licence does not stop trading on the day it expires. The first 72 hours are a grace period in which nothing changes, which covers a renewal made late and a payment taken while the licensing server was unreachable. After the grace, a wind-down runs for three days: no new entries, and every open trade finishes on its own stop or target. When the wind-down ends, open positions are flattened and their instances are stopped, and nothing restarts until the licence is renewed.
Reading is never blocked. Neither is stopping an instance, closing a position, flattening or the kill switch, at any point in that sequence.
When a plan does not include something
A control your plan does not cover says which plan does, for example This needs the Pro plan, and nothing starts. A limit that is reached says the limit and the way out of it, for example Your Pro plan allows 1 account. Stop or remove one, or upgrade to add more. A licence in its wind-down refuses a new start with the reason and the fix in the same sentence.
The plans
Three plans, and what each one allows is on the pricing page, which is the table to check against. In short: Starter covers single-coin backtests, the assistant with your own model and a small number of live and paper instances on one machine. Pro adds the optimiser, coin sweeps and the capacity check, one portfolio in backtest, paper and live, and the daily selection that fills it. Premium removes the instance and account limits and allows several portfolios at once, including combined backtests over them.
Every plan is licensed per machine, and the count of machines is part of the plan.
Where the build shows it
The About section lists the package, the version, the licence state and the build kind, and restates the terms version you accepted with its date. A development build says that licence activation is not available, which is why it can be started without a key.
